BEMIS ST. HOUSE

Sitting on a generous site in a 1950s subdivision close to downtown Littleton, the client was looking to expand the small existing house to accommodate their multi-generational family. The main level of the house is reorganized to enhance space and flow, with a two story addition set to the rear. The layout of the house allows for both communication between and privacy from each generation, designing for future flexibility.

The roof form differentiates the old from the new - the existing hipped roof is updated to present a gable to the street while a flat roofed block hovers above the addition shading a new terrace while providing views across the treetops and funneling rainwater for filter, capture, and reuse.
