POINT TO POINT
For Denver Design Week, Sort Studio created a site specific installation utilizing the existing structure as a framework for a three dimensional drawing in space. Continuing a line of research within the studio, simple geometric elements combine with craft methodologies to create complex form. A line is woven methodically from point to point following a strict set of rules, describing a set of twisted surfaces. Patterns overlap and interfere as the viewer moves around the piece before settling into a dramatic and directional form spanning the full height of the expansive space.
Constructed from a single continuous nylon thread 4500 feet in length, the installation combines craft techniques with references to natural systems to create the continuous organic form.
